About

“If a thing is worth doing, it is worth doing badly.” – Anton Chekhov

I’m just a bozo with a closet full of toys. Retired from teaching full-time on campus but still teach part-time on the Internet.

I have no illusions about being anything other than an amateur who likes to putter around with cherished hobbies. Learning and developing new skills have always been obsessions of mine. You are either “busy being born,” as Bob Dylan once said, or you’re “busy dying.”

Actually, my eclectic interests can be counterproductive. This site, Giblets & Flapdoodle, has over the past eleven years developed a case of bloat – hundreds of blog posts of questionable quality and scattered relevance that stubbornly refuse to coalesce. Hence a recent massive redo. Over 500 blogs have been deleted, and dozens of followers obviously no longer interested have been gently removed. I have repurposed and refocused this site to now prioritize visual media.
