First Beginnings

In 2008 I drove over 2,500 miles from Naples, Florida to Livingston, Montana.

Why?

Livingston is a former railroad town just a blip on the map today, with a population of barely 8000 rugged souls who mostly lean too far right for my taste.

But it did nourish and boast as a resident one of my favorite writers, Jim Harrison – and what’s a week’s drive to check it out, anyway?

Astonishingly, I discovered that Livingston has a vibrant underground arts scene.

And while there I not only fell in love with Livingston – a place I would return to many times over the years – but also became addicted to cross-country photo road trips.
