“Weaving in and out under the economy and trying to find a niche is my S.O.P.“
Before she was a toe tag – see Part I, “Woman in the Morgue” – Barbara was evangelical about living a vibrant, multi-faceted bohemian life.
“As far as I could see a checkered career was about the best thing on earth. I could live my life as I saw fit, and the more checkers the better!”

“Look how fast we all vanish, even the most flamboyant, important, precious to any life, gone so fast.”
Joyful, always full of wonder. Creatively alive to an envious degree.
Yet she died alone, her body unclaimed for weeks in a local morgue, a toe-tag her only companion.
The contrast as revealed in this video – her “monologue of delight” – is stark and unsettling.

The thing about Art is that for it to reveal its secret you have to do more than just glance at it.
You have to engage, participate – let IT worm its way into YOU.
But how do you do that with stone and glass, walls and a roof?
Le Corbusier’s Notre-Dame du Haut (“Our Lady of the Heights”) is a good architectural example, and in this video I suggest a way to stir up the fireflies.
“When Cold Stone Warmly Beckons” is the second installment of LIT BY FIREFLIES: Art That Sparkles. Dive in if you are curious as to how a building can talk.
